Nothing much was gained for any of the dwarf breeds at the TICA 2006 Semi-Annual BOD meeting. What the BOD's decision amounted to was allowing any new breed registration status as "Experimental 'breed name here' ". Basically this didn't change much, we could already register these cats as "Experimental". So, I guess all we can say is, thanks alot TICA for not a whole bunch of anything.

I don't understand TICA's lack of desire to make the newly developed dwarf breeds a part of the cat fancy. TICA's primary function is to register cats & keep track of their paperwork. Growth in the cat fancy has become an issue in recent years, maybe the various registering associations' reluctance to register cats has some bearing on that? Or should that be layed squarely at the door of BODs who "rule-smith"? Or is it just the general intolerance of other breeders to accept something in a variety other than their chosen traditional breed?

We have a long way to go to acceptance for these dwarves. We can only get there one short step at a time. ;-)
