Fantasy cats are a hybrid breed. Founded primarily from breeding between Munchkins, American curls, and a natural short tailed domestic tortoise shell, female named, “Tally” in California in 2007 and 2008. Medium built and well balanced fantasy cats are friendly, outgoing, and intelligent and enjoy handling and attention. PERMISSABLE OUTCROSSES: Munchkin, Kinkalow, American Curl, American Bobtail and Unregistered Domestics. ALLOWANCES: Allow for jowls in males, allow for larger size in males, and allow for buttons and lockets. HEAD: Shape: Modified wedge with gently rounded contours, without noticeable flat plains or doming. Slightly longer than it is wide. Profile has a slight stop. Ears: Broader at base, ending in a slightly rounded, slightly curled tips. Minimum 90 degree arc of curl. Ear cartilage should be firm from the base of the ear to at least one third of the height of the ear. The surface of the ear should be smooth. Moderately large and alert set up right with placement equally on top as on the sides of the head. Furnishings are desirable in long hairs. Eyes : Almost almond in shape. Moderately large in proportion to head. Set at a slight bias to the ear. All colors are acceptable, odd eye is considered very desirable. BODY: Neck: Medium in length. Thick, firmly muscled. Females have less muscling on neck than males. Torso: Medium size, thick semi-foreign body. Well rounded chest. Medium to substantial Musculature. Medium boning, firm hips. Slight rise from shoulders to tail when at rest. Shoulder blades may appear higher than other cats but should not be prominent. Legs: Feet: Tail: Medium thickness , naturally bobbed short, not to exceed four inches in length in adults. Should have at least one inch of actual bone. Twist or kinks are allowed. Not overly long. Held high in pom pom fashion when in motion. LEGS FORELEGS: Upper and lower four legs equal in length. HINDLEGS: Thigh and lower legs approximately equal. Slightly longer than front legs. LENGTH: Short BONING: Medium, will feel slightly heavier. MISC: Very slight bowing in front legs is allowed. FEET SHAPE: Round SIZE: Medium, medium large in males. MISC: Toe tufts desirable in long hairs. COAT LENGTH: Both short and long hair. DENSITY: Medium TEXTURE: Plush, all weather, resilient . UNDERCOAT: Medium PATTERN: Both solids and van are acceptable, but high white is preferred, with a minimum of 40% but should not exceed 60%. The “White Splash” should be “random”. White should also extend onto but should not completely cover the face and or the head. White gloving is preferred and can also be random. MISC: All colors are acceptable. PENALIZE Tail overly long, round eyes DISQUALIFY Polydactyl, excessive or diminutive size, this is a medium cat. Straight or severely mismatched ears, extreme curl in an adult where the tip curls back and touches the ear or head, lack of firm cartilage in the base of the ear, ear tips not flexible, compressed ears with not normal ear cavity. Less than one inch of bone in tail, docked tail, no tail, or full tail. Long Legs. |
